David Karen, Professor of Sociology at Bryn Mawr College, Pennsylvania, USA received his PhD in Sociology from Harvard University in 1985. He is member of the Program Committee for the North American Society for the sociology of sport.

Professor Karen is co-author of Sociological Perspectives on Sport: The Games Outside the Games (Routledge, 2015).  His research focuses on education, body image and sport, and sport as a social institution.

Professor Karen teaches courses in sociology of sport, sociology of education, social inequality, social movements, and research methods and statistical analysis. He also teaches the intensive writing junior seminar.
