The Department of Oncology at Aalborg University Hospital is one of five university centres for non-surgical treatment of cancer in Denmark. The Department covers all of Northern Denmark, and every year 3500 patients are referred to the Department for treatment.

The Department of Cardiology at Aalborg University Hospital is a highly specialised unit and one of four heart centres in Denmark. The department currently participates in major national and international trials and has an extensive international collaboration with high profile institutions.

In 2006 the Haematology Department at Aalborg University Hospital established The Clinical Research Unit. The Research Unit participates in and organise implementation of clinical trials Phase 0 - Phase 4 in patients with haematological diseases.

The Department of Endocrinology at Aalborg University Hospital treats patients with e.g. diabetes and thyroid disorders. The Research Unit participates in and implementation of clinical trials phase 2-4 as well as epidemiological research.
