Diet, Cancer and Health is a cohort study including 57,000 participants, men and women, born in Denmark, aged 50-64 at recruitment in 1993-97, and with no previous cancer diagnoses.
From all participants questionnaire information regarding diet and lifestyle was collected at recruitment and after five years of follow-up. At recruitment the participants were examined and anthropometric measures collected together with biological material including blood, adipose tissue, spot urine, and toe nail clippings.

The participants are followed in the national disease registries including the National Patient Registry, the Cancer Registry, the Diabetes Registry and the Causes of Death Registry.
The aim of Diet, Cancer and Health is to explore associations between diet, lifestyle, genetic susceptibility and development of chronic diseases including cancer, cardiovascular diseses, diabetes and other diseses reported to the national disease registries. For several diseases the number of cases and time of follow-up also allows prognostic studies. |
